[GUIDE] Upgrades

  • EU2 originally had an upgrade system which was removed and the server later shut down due to 3.0 launch not supporting any form of custom scripts and/or custom mods. After few months, EU2 opened again and uses Cabin maps only, likely replacing the illegal servers, SL CABIN (Uncle Fred's server). The upgrades system was revamped by Joux and Xerox and introduced it in EU3. EU3 introduces a classic Sammy-ZPS upgrade system albeit modified.

Some players find certain upgrades skills difficult to understand how they work and their benefits. The purpose of this guide is to explain in details as best each upgrade's purpose, what benefits you gain and so on. Please take a note that all upgrades apply to both human and zombie sides with the exception of Armor Regen and Clip Regen which are Human-only upgrades.

    Introduction
EU3 is the only server that currently introduces Upgrading mod and is the only server in ZP!S that uses RPG mod (Gaining points by killing, etc). Finally, the server is still in active development with maps being added almost everyday to the server.

First time players will obviously feel unbalanced and feel free weakness against high-level players. But overtime, you will gain points and manage to upgrade skills to match your opponent. Regular players get 100% gain of points each after match while VIPs get 200% gain of points.

You gain points by killing humans/zombies, just playing and doing tasks. You get those points only after the match finishes. As Human, it is probably easier to get points than Zombies because you are killing zombies easier and quickly than Zombies killing Humans but there is little difference between the teams as either way you are getting more points by playing and trying to accomplish your task.

Spectators do not get any points at all. If you were spectating and just out of sudden join the match few seconds before it finishes, you will still get points but very few (Instead of getting 1500 points or so, you might just get 55 points.)

If you are starting Human or Zombie and win the round, you gain 20% extra points. If you joined the round late and once it finishes, you will lose -50% points gained of that round as a punishment for joining late as HUMAN.

    Upgrades
    The following upgrades are:

Speed - This upgrade increases your walking and jogging/running speed. It also increases crouch speed as well. This upgrade applies to both sides, Zombie and Human sides.

This upgrade can be useful in many ways including escaping from zombie's pursuit at ease, reaching to goals faster, able to jog faster even though carrying a lot items on you and so on. Be warned, however, that your speed will still be decreased significantly if you do not rest enough after repeatedly running so keep a note on that as the zombies will catch up with you at ease as they do not lose any speed at all as they do not tire similarly in Vanilla modes.

Note, pressing Panic button may decrease your speed significantly, depending your speed level. This is a bug.

Damage - This upgrade increases your damage output to your opponents. This only applies to all weapons with the exception of IEDs and Grenades. This upgrade applies to both sides, Zombie and Human sides.

This upgrade can be particularly useful in order to eliminate your opponent in quick succession, saving you some bullets. For Humans, the more you upgrade your damage skill, the more damage you will cause your opponent with your weapons (Firearms and Melee). For Zombies, the more you upgrade your damage skill, the more damage you will cause your opponent with your claws.

This skill entirely depends your opponent's health regen skill. If your opponent has high health regen skill but you have very low damage skill then there is a chance you will never be able to kill your opponent, depending on several factors including your shots' locations. On the other side, if you have high damage level and your opponent has low health regen then there is a chance you will be able to one-shot on their head with your Shotgun, point-blank.

On Zombie side, no matter your damage skill level, you might still need to claw your opponent more than three times, depending their health regen. It is currently impossible for a Zombie to kill a human in two claws, no matter their health regen skill. If your opponent has high health regen and you have high damage skill level, you might still need to claw them more than five times, depending where you hit them at. It is important to note that if your opponent has their body armor on, it will take some time to kill them as that decreases your damage output.

Zombies with high damage skill can be proven dangerous foes to humans, able to kill them in quick success. Level 25 Damage skill grants you causing 30 to 38 damage output. The number is randomized.

Health Regen - This upgrade increases your maximum health by 2 for Humans and by 4 for Zombies as well as regain some portion of your lost Health after getting some damage. This upgrade applies to both sides, Zombie and Human sides.

This upgrade should be your first priority in order to survive in matches as Human particularly but is strongly recommended for Zombies to prioritize upgrading this skill as it will increase their chances to accomplish countless kills or damages in seconds before being put down.

For Human side, this skill upgrades your health by 2. For example, level 1 skill would increase your maximum health from 100 to 102. Level 2 would increase your health from 102 to 104 and so on. This skill is particularly useful and important to your chances to survive numerous encounters. If you have taken damage, you will regain some health you lost but your health regen ability will soon be depleted after regaining enough health. Low level health regen skill humans are often targetted as priority to be killed by experienced Zombie players due to the fact they are very easy kills to add more teammates to Zombie team.

For Zombie side, this skill upgrades your health by 4. For example, level 1 skill would increase your maximum health from 200 to 204 as REGULAR zombie and 250 to 254 as WHITEY zombie. High level health regen skill zombies are extremely dangerous to Human players as the regain health in zombie side is much faster than Human side and can recover gunshots much quickly, making them extremely dangerous foes for human players especially WHITEYS as they can have 350 Health Points for Level 25 health regen skill. Low damage skill humans may be proved useless to eliminate high level health regen zombies, further requiring a team effort to put down powerful zombies.

In brief, experienced Zombie players with high health regen skill will know how to withstand several bullets from Humans so extreme caution is to be taken. 1v1 might be proven a suicide.

Armour Regen - This upgrade increases your armour points by 1 for Humans on spawn. It will then slowly increase your armour points in limited amount of time. Once it reaches 100, depending your Armour Regen skill, you will regain your lost armour points for a limited amount. This upgrade applies only to Human side.

This upgrade, while not particularly useful, it can help you increase your chances to survive a zombie encounter. This upgrade can counter your overpowerful opponents (High level health regen and damage) as the armour decreases your opponent's damage to half, further increasing it's usefulness. However, the armour quickly gets depleted unlike Health Regen.

If you got level 5 armour regen, you will spawn instantly with 5 armour points on you with it slowly increasing to the maximum regain amount.

  • Clip Regen - This upgrade regains your current weapon's ammo, depending what kind weapon you are holding at that time. This upgrade applies only to Human side.

This upgrade can be particularly useful for Humans who want to increase their chances to survive or Humans who aren't bothered to grab ammo from the ground or even Humans who want to spare some ammo to their teammate. The more skill upgrade, the more ammo you will regain and at faster rate.

You will, however, get more Handgun ammo over other powerful weapons such as Shotguns, rifles and revolvers. You will not regain grenades and/or IEDs. The weapon you are holding at that time will regain ammo overtime until the regen ammount is depleted.

Pushback - This upgrade pushes your opponent back or effectively halting their movement for one second. This upgrade applies to both sides, Zombie and Human sides.

This upgrade is entirely optional and is merely like an annoyance to Zombie players but helpful for Human players. Zombies will be pushed back slightly or even have their movement slowed down significantly temporarily by human's melee and/or bullets and this is only one-second effect. Depending the skill level, the Zombie players might even get pushed back as they get shot. This effect applies to both sides in air but at decreased effectiveness.

Zombie players can find this upgrade useful to their advantage as it behaves as "counter" skill. If Humans have level 10 Pushback skill and a Zombie has level11+ pushback skill, then the zombie will be affected by Human's pushback skill by 30%. If however there is a human with level12+ pushback skill, then the level11+ pushback skill zombie will get affected by that human and only that human. This skill might be useful to Zombies who want to move without disadvantages.

Infection - This upgrade increases the chances for a Zombie player to infect a Human player. This upgrade applies to both sides, Zombie and Human sides.

This upgrade is particularly useful but optional for Zombie players. If a zombie player has zero infection skill then they will never be able to infect a player, no matter what. Whiteys do not get ANY extra chances of infections unlike in Vanilla maps so do not get confused or misled how it works.

Level 1 Infection means 1% chance to infect a player. This applies to REGULAR zombies as well.
Level 2 Infection means 2% chance to infect a player, level 3 means 3% chance and so on. Level 20 Infection means 20% chance to infect a player too!

Luckily for Human side, they can upgrade this Infection skill to "counter" their opponent's infection skill. If a Zombie has level 20 Infection skill but the Human player has level 21 Infection skill, then that zombie will never be able to infect that human at all, no matter what. They need to infect a level19 infection skill human or below.

However, this skill uses maths. If the human has level 20 infection skill and the zombie has level 22 infection skill, then it's: 20 - 22 = 2% chance of infection on that human.

    Ex.
Human Infection Skill 15 - Zombie Infection Skill 25 = 10% chance to infect that human.
Human Infection Skill 5 - Zombie Infection Skill 30 = 25% chance to infect that human.
Human Infection Skill 25 - Zombie Infection Skill 10 = -15% chance to infect that human. Therefore will not infect that human.
Human Infection Skill 10 - Zombie Infection Skill 10 = 0% chance to infect that human. Therefore will not infect that human.

    Conclusion
I hope you liked it. Thanks.
