[GUIDE] How to play as medic properly [NO LONGER IN SERVER]

  • This is a guide for the players to know how to play as medic, properly! Well, to my eyes.

Any player can become medic provided they passed their medic exam by typing !medic in-game. Of course, the answers are same but randomized on order.

If you pass the exam, the next game's round, you MIGHT become the medic. If not, then the 2 next rounds, you might become the medic. If not, next round and it goes on. On the other hand, if you fail the exam, you will be banned from applying for ten to thirty minutes.

It is important to note that the maximum limit for medics to play on a match is two, depending the playerbase. If the playerbase is less than 15, then only one medic will appear. If less than 5 players, there may not be a medic at all.

Once you pass the medic exam, you will get the following form:

Clicking the Medic Upgrades will lead to this:

Clicking the Medic Stats will lead to this:

It is currently unknown the real purposes of the medic stats system as the medic system will reset every time after quiting the server and not logging back in within 5 minutes or so.

    UPGRADES

    Definition of the following upgrades:
    1. Total Heal = Those are the available points that the medic has. 200 points simple mean 200 health to heal other players. If a medic is healing a player from 50 to 125 health, then 75 health points will slowly be taken away from you until he is healed. It is automatically upgraded to one level. Upgrading it to second level will grant you 250 points. Upgrading it to third level will grant you 300 points and so on. Medics can also heal themselves overtime.
    2. Heal rate = How faster does a medic heal his/her teammates. For 0 level, it's about 2-3 health points per second. The lower level, the slower healing time.
    3. Total cures = How many times can your medic cure his/her teammamtes. At 0 level, it's only ONE cure per match. If 1 level, TWO cures. If 2 levels, THREE cures and so on.
    4. Cure chance = Self explanatory. If the cure chance is low, then you MAY fail to cure your teammate therefore you will have to kill them before they turn into a zombie. At 0 level, the cure chance is 35%. At 1 level, the cure chance will be 40% and so on.

Medics will always be level 0, regardless how many times you played one. If you do a great job in a match, such as, curing, healing a lot teammates, you might get leveled up and get one upgrade point to upgrade your medic skill. Unfortunately for you, all skills and upgrades are automatically reset if you quit the server.

    COLOURS

Medics are the only humans who can understand who of all teammates are HEALTHY, INJURED and INFECTED.
    1. HEALTHY teammates display NO colour on them. Healthy also means that the teammate is on his/her maximum health. It does not mean if he/she is armoured or not. Healthy teammates cannot be seen through the walls.
    2. INJURED teammates display RED colour on them. If a teammate got attacked or injured by falls and/or objects hitting them, regardless of how many health they lost, they will be displayed as red colour on them and you can even see them through the walls. Injured teammates can heal themselves overtime if they are near a medic, as long as the medic has available health points to heal them.
    3. INFECTED teammates display BLUE colour on them. If a teammate is infected, it does not mean they are aware that they got infected (Aka, Quarantine symbol upper right corner). They are still unaware of being infected but a medic knows that they are infected. A medic, if he/she has available cures, has to approach close to the infected teammate and push E button on them until you get the following messages:

Medic 1 succcessfully cured Teammate 1 from infection! ------ Medic 1 failed to cure Teammate 1 from infection!

If the medic manages to cure the infected teammate, the teammate is cleared from any form of infection they received from. If the medic FAILS to cure the infected teammate, it's usually recommended to kill them before they turn themselves. Medics can also see infected teammates through the walls.

And lastly, regular teammates can see their medics in GREEN colour on them. If there are 2 medics, a medic can see the other medic in green colour as well and vice versa. Thankfully, zombies can not see through the walls who is injured, infected and who is medic so they have to take a good look on each teammate's clothes. Medics are wearing blue and white clothes on them, carrying a backsack stripped with a + symbol behind it as well as on the medic's shoulders.

    GUIDE ON WORKING/SURVIVING AS MEDIC

Unfortunately for the medic players, they are not exempted from the server rules, especially in maps where humans must progress their objectives, particularly the Redqueen maps. It is not uncommon for zombies to target the medics as priority to be killed.

It is strongly recommended to be paired with other humans in order to survive. A medic is at mercy to be killed easier than regular teammates due to their abilities (healing, curing, etc), therefore take extreme cautions when progressing objectives alone or even barely alone. Healing teammates is also a must as they can provide extra firepower against the zombies rather than alone yourself. It is sometimes recommended to go lightly with small firearms so you can move fast around and heal/cure your teammates.

Keep in mind that medics are more like support role in the server therefore brawling around yourself without teaming up your teammates and without healing them at all is merely stupid idea. Let the regular humans do their most work and heal them whenever they get injured. Provide cover and heal, repeat. Avoid any form of encounters with zombies, especially if travelling alone.

It is generally recommended for Medics to be armed with Handguns, magnums and/or shotguns as they are more light, especially the small firearms than armoring yourself with heavier weapons which will do nothing but kill yourself in the end. Your teammates need to be healed and supported!! Don't neglect them!

Obviously, this is a guide for regular players, not SoD members for obvious reasons (Most SoD members have their skills upgraded almost to maximum!!).

That's all, thanks for the read :)

  • I don't ever recall being a medic, so yeah. It was a bit interesting to read about, quite good stuff to know :D
